To the ArtZone Community:

With the closure of the ski season and many of the businesses in our Village, the Board of ArtZone has determined that effective immediately all workshops and meetings will be postponed until the health officials of our country deem it safe to move forward. This includes the abstract art workshop being planned for April 3, our next Collectives meeting April 6, and the next board meeting April 7th. Exhibitions at Vertical Cafe, TSP and Sotheby's will continue as planned at this time.

Our next calendar items is the "Off the Hill" exhibition at the Kamloops ArtsCouncil, Old Court House, May 27 - June 20. We will remain focused on this exhibition in the hope that it will be timely within this cycle.

In the meantime, I want to say that our first Collective's meeting held March 9th was a success, with 15 people attending from various disciplines. Interestingly, as we shared what we have been working on, it came to light that there was a common thread, that being, the use of colour; and maybe more importantly the use of black and white to determine colour value.

During this time of self-isolation, perhaps using this thought of colour value, and looking at our medium in black and white, we can come up with some examples within our disciplines to share at our next Collectives meeting, whenever it will be.

I saw this quote on Facebook and think it applies to our current situation (I have edited to make it apply):

ATTENTION; FIBRE ARTISTS, VISUAL ARTISTS, WRITERS, PHOTOGRAPHERS

DO NOT FEAR SELF QUARANTINE.

THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN TRAINING FOR.

Stay safe. Care for one another.
