Photographing 2D & 3D Art for Submission

Submitted photos of your art work will be used by the Selection Committee to determine the suitability of your art for a particular display. Also, if selected, the photos will be posted on Art Zone’s website under the appropriate exhibition and in the ‘purchase art here’ section.  It is important that your photos are as good a quality as possible and represent your art piece accurately. A digital camera or cell phone can be used successfully.

1. Set up in a location where the lighting on the piece is as even as possible. Strong light coming in from one side (e.g. from a window) will cause a lighter to darker cast across the piece.

2. Natural lighting, if possible, is best. Different types of artificial lights will cause a colour shift in the photo resulting in an inaccurate representation of your art.

3. Create borders as evenly as possible around the piece. The borders do not need to be even on all four sides. Top & bottom borders should be even and left & right borders even.

4. * Keep the back of the camera or cell phone parallel to the piece being photographed. *  If the back of the camera or phone and the art piece are not parallel it will cause a distortion in the photo which will result in portions of the photo being cropped to fit the website format.
